College Football in the South
Written by mackey on June 30, 2008 – 7:50 amDuke football has sucked forever and now they have the legal paperwork to prove it. The Blue Devils cancelled the last three games of a four game contract with Louisville. Louisville sued Duke for $450,000 plus any incidental damages that the court wanted to pile on.
Duke’s own lawyers argued in court that Duke was so pathetitic that any Division-1 football team could replace them.Duke is 13-90 since 1999. Last week Circuit Court Judge Phillip Shepherd in Franklin County, KY ruled in favor of Duke. David Cutciffe has Duke football heading in the right direction. They’re now 1-0 since he took over as head coach, and they haven’t even stepped on the field yet.
Ole Miss has a new $6 million, HD video board this season. It’s the largest true HD board in the SEC (what is the opposite of true HD?). Ole Miss? What are they gonna show on it, other team’s highlights?
Alabama’s head coach, Nick Saban, is working on a new defensive scheme, the 5-1-5. Mainly because he only has one starting linebacker left on the squad after off the field issues with the others. The latest Tide LB to be kicked off the team is Jimmy Johns. Johns sold coke to an undercover cop five times. When they busted him he had several grams of marching powder and hits of ecstasy. E, huh, Roll Tide, Roll. That Saban is tough. He’ll kick players off for little indiscretitions like this?
